2️⃣Leveling the Playing Field:#
Traders come in all shapes and sizes, with diverse capital and trading strategies. Just looking at absolute PnL ($) won't tell you the whole story on a trader's performance.
That's why we took on the challenge of normalizing the data for a fair and meaningful evaluation on true performance. To normalize the data we:
1. Took each trader's highest notional value across their positions
2. Used this to scale all their positions to a $1M benchmark
3. Adjusted PnLs accordingly.
This process ensured that the relative position sizing across their portfolios was maintained while enabling comparability in terms of PnL. This fresh perspective unveils a shift in performance dynamics due to normalizing the trading size
The revised leaderboard now reads:

3️⃣A New Look Post-Data Normalization#
After this initial analysis, a question arose: could there be other traders who, despite a lower absolute PnL, would have excelled given the same capital?
We explored further, and came across these ones:

Despite their diverse trading styles, the common thread weaving these traders together is their ability to achieve profitability.

In Sep '23, he netted a PnL of $108k, majorly by shorting varied symbols.
With a skewness of 8.11, he demonstrated a clear upside edge.
